Paying For The Wedding

» Paying For The Wedding

Depending on the factors, a wedding can be extremely expensive. In an effort to avoid starting their married life in debt, many couples are opting for a wedding that is both memorable and affordable. As such, effective planning will play a large role in just how easy paying for the wedding will be.

Because most weddings are planned over a period of 12 months or longer, paying for the wedding becomes much easier because of the amount of time involved in the planning. The first thing that most couples will do is to select a date for the wedding and search for a location. If the location requires a rental fee, a deposit will likely be required to reserve the facility for a specific date and time. The remaining balance will be due within a specified amount of time prior to the wedding, which is often one month. Paying for the wedding location will be much easier if a deposit is made upfront, which is followed with the remaining balance later on.

Once the location and date are confirmed, the next thing to consider is the invitations and who will be attending. An important part of paying for the wedding will be knowing how many guests will be attending the reception and how much food will be catered, how many waiters will be needed and the number of parking attendants required (if applicable).

The wedding cake, which will serve as the centerpiece at the reception, can often be very expensive. With prices ranging from several hundred to several thousand dollars, paying for the wedding cake is often anything but a piece of cake. There are several ways to save money on the purchase of a wedding cake, including ordering a smaller design, having a friend to make the cake or even making it yourself.

No wedding day would be complete without photographs and, therefore, paying for the wedding photos will be a significant cost factor to consider. Most professional photographers are very expensive but, in this sense, you truly will get what you pay for. It’s best to talk with several different photographers and review samples of their work prior to confirming with anyone. If professional photography is simply out of the realm of options, consider hiring a friend or photography college major to take the photos.

When it comes to paying for the wedding, early planning and saving are the key to a successful day. There is no reason that a wedding should break the bank so to speak and, even on a budget, the wedding of your dreams is possible if you just put a little thought and creativity into it.
