In home parties are becoming increasingly popular among entrepreneurs.  In addition to being a fun way to spend time laughing and talking with guests, in home parties are a terrific way to make extra money or start your own business.

If you want to create success with in home parties, you must first decide what type of business you want to have.  Do you enjoy beauty products, jewelry, spa treatments or other popular product and possess an expert knowledge about it?  An important part of operating in home parties is a strong knowledge about your product because you will be presenting it to potential customers.

Once you have selected the type of in home parties that you want to have, the next step will be determining where to get your products.  Will you sign up to be an affiliate of an already established company, such as Mary Kay or Avon?  Or, will you purchase the items at wholesale prices from a distributor and control your own inventory?  Many companies online offer affiliate programs and, at the same time, many distributors are eager to offer wholesale products to entrepreneurs.  The choice is yours.  The next step will be to obtain a business license if necessary.  You will need to call you state’s tax office to inquire about an application.

In home parties are usually held in the evening so that everyone can attend.  Invitations should be sent to close friends and family at first.  If your in home parties are a success, your guests will refer others and your customer base will continue to grow.  In home parties usually consist of product samples being passed out to guests, snack foods and refreshments and a time set aside for taking product orders.  If you have the products in stock, you will not need to special order them.  However, if you do take special orders, you may want to ask for a deposit upfront to ensure the buyer is serious. 

At some point in the evening, a contest may be held and prizes awarded for the winners.  The prizes should be along the same product line as your in home parties.  For instance, if you are hosting in home parties involving beauty products, perhaps lipstick or a bottle of perfume will be the winner’s prize.  A regular contest is a terrific incentive to get people returning to your in home parties and thereby increases your chance for additional sales.  As customers enjoy your in home parties, they will begin to refer their friends and family to join in on the fun.  Before you know it, you will be having a lot of fun with your in home parties while making money at the same time.
