» Planning A Baby Shower
By Cynthia M. | Published 03/8/2006 | Baby Shower | Unrated

If someone you know is having a baby, there may very well be a baby shower in your future.  Filled with friends, games and laughter, a baby shower is a celebration preparing to welcome a new life into the world.  The mom-to-be is full of hope and joy while her friends and family anxiously await the new arrival.

When you have chosen a date for the baby shower, you may begin to send out the invitations.  If you are planning the baby shower as a surprise, you may have to speak with close family members to get a list of the new mom’s friends.  You will want to be sure and invite all family and friends, so an accurate contact list is very important.  Most planners schedule the baby shower for the evening hours so that everyone can attend, including those who work or are enrolled in school.

If you are planning a baby shower, you will want to make it a very special event with plenty of balloons, decorations and games.  Typically, everyone gathered at a baby shower will play one or more games throughout the course of an evening.  The winner will get a nice little prize, which may be a knick knack, household item or beauty product.  This is a wonderful way to share the fun with guests as they join in one the games.  While you are planning the perfect baby shower, don’t forget the catering.  You will want to have a nice selection of food, including cookies, cake, soft drinks and other tasty treats for the guests to nibble on during the party.

Of course, the mom-to-be will be showered with gifts at some point in the evening.  Until then, all of the gifts should be placed on a large table inside the room.  If possible, ask the soon to be mom if she would like to pose for a photo, with her gifts, before opening them.  As she starts to peek inside the packages, snap a few photos as she reveals what’s inside.  These photos will serve as wonderful memories as the years go by.

After the party is over, be sure to have all photos developed.  It may be a nice idea to make a little scrapbook for the new mom so that she will remember all of the special people who made her baby shower so special.  A scrapbook kit, along with the photos that you have taken and some well-wishes written by guests of the baby shower will be treasured for years to come.
