Other acceptable resources would include the internet, local newspaper or by referrals from family and friends. Many talented entertainers have their own website, which is used to promote their skill. A comedian may have a website with photos, sample jokes, a detailed resume and contact information. All of this will be helpful when putting together contact information for all entertainers that you wish to interview, so be sure to check out the internet.

When selecting any form of entertainment for your special occasion, speak with the prospects in person for a brief interview. Watch as they provide you with a sample of their work, special talent or skill. Both the soon-to-be bride and groom should be present during each interview, which will help later in the final selection process. Once all potential acts have been interviewed, sit down and narrow the prospects according to your favorites. Once the list is smaller, discuss which performer will best coordinate with your wedding theme. It’s important that whomever you choose be professional, friendly and courteous. They will be mingling with family and friends at the wedding, so it’s a good idea to make sure they are personable before asking them to be a part of your special day.

Anytime that you retain the services of an individual or business, including entertainment, a formal agreement should be reached by way of a signed contract. This agreement should outline the date, time and location of the event, the amount of time the entertainer will spend at the function and any cancellation policies. In addition, if any retainer fees are paid in order to reserve the entertainment, this should be noted along with any remaining balance due. A valid contract must be signed and dated by all parties involved with each keeping a copy of the full agreement. It’s a good idea to keep this type of paperwork tucked away in a safe place, which will be easily accessible should a future dispute arise regarding services rendered.

Whatever entertainment that you select for your wedding reception, make sure that it is agreeable to both of you. The final selection should be someone, or a company, that you are comfortable with and who will provide you with the best entertainment for your investment.
